Uniswap’s Unichain moves to Optimism’s OP Enterprise on Oct. 29
Optimism will run Unichain’s sequencers and core infrastructure; Uniswap says nothing changes for users.
Updated
Unichain, Uniswap’s layer-2 network, is moving to OP Enterprise, an arrangement under which Optimism runs the chain’s production infrastructure. The testnet migration was scheduled for Oct. 13, 2026, and the mainnet migration follows on Oct. 29, according to an Oct. 9 post on the Uniswap Labs blog.
Optimism will operate the sequencers on mainnet and testnet (the systems that put users’ transactions in order and build the chain’s blocks), along with the RPC service that apps use to read data and send transactions, plus monitoring and incident response. Uniswap says nothing changes for users: the chain ID, contracts, balances and apps stay the same, including the Uniswap v2, v3 and v4 deployments, and Unichain remains a Stage 1 rollup with permissionless fault proofs.
The bigger goal is interoperability. Once native interop goes live (no date has been announced), users will be able to move assets, starting with ETH, between Unichain and other OP Stack chains without a bridge. Optimism’s OP token rose roughly 18% on Oct. 13, The Crypto Times reported, though it said no direct link to the news had been established. If interop delivers, hopping between these chains could start to feel like moving money within a single network.
